Suggested background:                    Basic Windows skills, comfortable with the mouse

This course provides the skills that are necessary to use Word at a basic level.  You will learn to create and edit letters, memos and reports.  Learn to enhance the appearance and alignment of text, control paragraph formatting and page layout, and use the spell checker.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

Handle Documents

Move around your document efficiently

Understand the I-beam and the insertion point

Create, open and close documents

Understand the difference between Save and Save As

Use Basic Editing Skills

Insert and delete characters, words, paragraphs, and blank lines

Select text using the most efficient method

Undo and redo text changes

Use the Office Clipboard to copy and move text

Correct your spelling

Understand Word’s automatic features

Enhance the Appearance of Text and Paragraphs

Change the font style, size and color of text

Enhance text by assigning bold, italic and underline

Change paragraph line spacing and text alignment

Set tabs and indent paragraphs

Add bullets and numbering

Control the Page Layout

Change margins and page orientation

Preview your printout

Force new pages to print

Print your document
