WINDOWS XP INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

Course Length:                       1 half-day session

 

Who should attend:                Someone who is new to the Windows environment

 

Suggested Background:         An experienced PC user who is moving into the Windows XP environment, a PC novice who has taken a PC Orientation course or someone who has equivalent knowledge of the concepts of RAM and disk storage of files.

 

This course provides an introduction to the basic elements of the Windows graphical environment. The skills you will learn will be of immense value as a preparation to learning any Windows-based application program.

 

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

 

          Use Basic Skills

                   Recognize screen elements

                   Use the mouse effectively

                   Identify icons

                   Work with buttons, bars, and boxes

 

          Run Windows Programs

                   Use the Start button

                   Create and save documents

                   Open files (including navigating through tree directories)

                   Use dialog boxes

 

          Work with Text

                   Understand the I-beam and the insertion point

                   Insert, delete and select text

 

          Work More Efficiently

                   Activate windows using the taskbar

                   Control window size and position

                   Use the right mouse button

                   Use short-cut keys
